Sex Pistols plot raid on European festival circuit

The Sex Pistols [ tickets ] will saddle up this summer for another round of reunion dates, a schedule heavy with European festival appearances. The iconic British punk rockers show only one US date on the calendar: a June 7 concert in Las Vegas. After that show, the band will jet overseas for a June 11 headlining date in Birmingham, England, before mounting a two-month-long stretch of festival shows, kicking off June 13 at the Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria. The trek continues through late August, with highlights including the June 14 Isle of Wight Festival in the UK, and a somewhat ironic June 27 appearance for the anarchic quartet at Sweden's Peace & Love Festival. All dates are shown below.Last year the band celebrated the 30th anniversary of its legendary debut, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols." The group reissued the album and its four singles--"Anarchy in the UK," "Holidays in the Sun," "Pretty Vacant" and "God Save the Queen"--on vinyl and in their exact original formats, with the "Bollocks" reissue including the same poster and 7" "Submission" single that the original contained.More recently, the band re-recorded its seminal hit "Anarchy in the UK" for developers of the video game Guitar Hero III, after the original multi-track masters of the song couldn't be located, according to a press release. The group worked with original producer Chris Thomas to record the track on the original analog sound desk, circa 1969, that was built for George Martin at Air Studios in London. The Sex Pistols continue to tour with their original lineup: singer John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten), guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock, who was replaced by the late Sid Vicious in the band's most infamous incarnation.
